SEQUIM – The annual Reach for Hospice Race will be held on Sequim Bay on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Race participants will meet at John Wayne Marina, 2577 W. Sequim Bay Road, at 10 a.m.
Three races will be held starting at 12:30 p.m.
The public is encouraged to watch the race from a variety of areas in the marina complex.
An awards’ ceremony will be held between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The fundraising race helps Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County provide respite care for family members of hospice patients so they can tend to family and personal business while a skilled nurse stays with the ill family member.
Race entry fees, business sponsors and community donations to the race have raised $153,000 for the respite fund during the past 17 years.
Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, founded in 1978, exists to provide support and care to persons in the last phase of an illness.
A new portion of the annual fundraiser, the Reach for Hospice Fundraising Dinner, will also support Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County’s respite fund.
The dinner, sponsored by the Sequim Bay Yacht Club, will be held at C’est Si Bon, 23 Cedar Park Drive in Port Angeles, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.
Tickets are available for $60 per person for a full meal with a choice of beef, chicken or fish entrees.
