SEQUIM — Clallam Conservation District, in partnership with WSU Extension and the Dungeness River Audubon Center, will offer a fall edition of its natural landscaping short course.
The course involves three Wednesday evening classes in Sequim and two daytime field trips.
Classes will be held at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 29, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13.
The afternoon field trips are planned for Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 9.
A $20 registration fee covers the cost of materials, which include the WSU Extension publications Grow Your Own Native Landscape and Rain Garden Handbook for Western Washington Homeowners and a binder of other useful resources.
Course participants will learn to develop residential landscape designs suited to the ecological conditions of their properties.
The course focus is a naturalistic landscape style, with special emphasis on water conservation and low maintenance.
Course participants will be coached through the steps necessary to prepare landscape plans that save time, labor and money while also enhancing wildlife habitat and biodiversity.
