SEQUIM — Sequim artist Pat Godon won the 2010 Art in the Park People’s Choice Award for her watercolor “Canyon Creek No. 11.”
Gordon’s painting was part of an exhibit on display during the recent third annual Art in the Park at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.
The exhibit featured 24 local artists whose works included painting, pottery, block printing, driftwood sculpture and more.
More than 300 visitors voted for their favorite piece for the show.
The second-place favorite was “Soaring High,” a hanging sculpture by award-winning driftwood sculpture Tuttie Peetz.
A photo by Ruth Helmsley, “The Bridge in a Bubble,” and a painted rock, “Salmon Run” by Kay Kay, tied for third place.
“Winter Wanderings,” a black-and-white photo by Pablo McCloud, received an honorable mention.
More than 800 people attended the celebration of art and nature at Railroad Bridge Park.
In addition to the exhibit, events included multimedia demonstrations by artists, art activities for all ages and evening programs on bats and moths.
“Thirty-four generous artists helped make Art in the Park a success,” said event co-chair Julie Jackson.
The artists donated at least 25 percent of their sales to support Dungeness River Audubon Center programs, and several artists donated a piece of art as well.
Sixteen pieces from the exhibit are displayed at www.DungenessRiverCenter.org.
