
During the third annual Opulent Art Show local artists will gather for an informal show and sale with live music, food and more in a garden setting.
SEQUIM — Imagine strolling through gorgeously landscaped flower gardens as butterflies and songbirds flutter about.
As you walk through the lush landscape you meet local artists offering one-of-a-kind pieces for sale at reasonable prices.
Add live music, locally-grown and produced foods and wines and you have the perfect weekend outing.
If this sounds like something you would like to do, stop by the Opulent Art Show held at The Cutting Garden, 303 Dahlia Llama Lane, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
The show will feature North Olympic Peninsula artists of several media including painting, photography, jewelry, glass, mixed media, fiber arts and music.
Admission to the show is free.
Attendees can enjoy the gardens, fine wine and food and live music while chatting with artists about the process they use to create their art.
The Opulent Art Show is produced by Burning Down the House Creative Collective, which features local area artists connected through a common thread of quality and innovation.
Each artist manages an in-home or online business dedicated to their art with the mission to cooperate and support the pursuit of personal enterprise, develop artistic outlets and promote the significance of local, handmade art.
“What makes the Opulent Art Show special this year is the embrace of collaboration between the team of artists that produce the event, Burning Down the House Creative Collective, past participating artists and new artists and businesses joining this amazing day of artful affinity showcasing creativity, culture and community,” said Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond, chair of Burning Down the House Creative Collective.
Mentorship and inclusion is fostered among the artists participating in the Opulent Art Show by using cross-pollination marketing, social media use and creating small business partnership affiliation, Brock-Richmond said.
“Working on the “pay it forward” and “we are all in this together” principles, new creative businesses can step out to share their artwork appreciative that there are experienced business encouraging them with education, positive input and this event opportunity to shine,” she said.

Food will be provided by Current Café including wild salmon, Portobello sandwiches and salads with beverages.
Wine will be provided by Wine on the Waterfront.
