PORT ANGELES — The World Champion Auto Daredevils will visit the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., for the final tour of the Greatest Outdoor Thrill Spectacle on Friday, Sept. 10.

Gates open at 6 p.m., live music starts at 6:30 p.m. and the two-hour show starts at 8 p.m. Arrival before 7 p.m. is suggested so people can participate in drawings and prize giveaways.

Admission costs $15 for adults, tickets for children 11 and younger cost $10.

Food will be available for purchase in the snack booth from the Sequim Boys & Girls Club.

If rain delays the schedule, the make-up show will be at the fairgrounds at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.

After 60 years of performing worldwide, Dusty Russell, a seven-year Sequim resident and the show’s director, is calling the 2010 event the final show.

Organizers say the last show will be a great one.

The announcer will be Tommy Shultz, the voice of Port Angeles Speedway.

The show is under the direction of Russell, former World Record Holder and star of Steel Arena — the real daredevil story.

The show will feature new and old stunts from local drivers as well as a seasoned World Champion Auto Daredevil veterans.

Stunts will include the “Slide for Life,” motorcycle firewalls, the “Outlaw T-Bone,” a domino crash and a human battering ram.

The final show will also feature a one-of-a-kind extreme stunt — a vertical car drop.

For the stunt, Affordable Crane will hoist a Daredevil in a car 150 feet in the air, then let it drop.

The AllForm Welding Crash Roll Contest will have a Peninsula Awards’ first-place trophy up for grabs.

At the grand finale, a stock car will attempt a new limited-approach record, catapulting more than 100 feet through the air in the “Death Defying Dive Bomber.”
The event will also feature non-stunt related entertainment.

To warm up the crowd, Chantilly Lace will rock the stands at 6:30 p.m. with a musical performance.

Peaches the Clown will make balloon hats for children from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

During the event, there will be drawings totaling more than $1,500 of sponsor and supporter donations.

World Champion Auto Daredevils and support staff from Sequim include:
<<< Dennis Sutton — At the Port Angeles Speedway on July 30, Sutton jumped 20 feet over the top of the infield pit shack. Sutton plays safety on the local Eagles semi-pro football team.

<<< Tyler Moore — Moore has tested his metal at the last three shows at Port Angeles Speedway and in the “Slide for Life,” on July 30, broke his left leg in three places.
Moore will attend the upcoming show to support his fellow Daredevils.

<<< Danny Sanders — Sanders was involved in early World Champion Auto Daredevils shows but took 2009 off to race his No. 8 Hornet race car.
Sanders is now back and will be entering into new areas of extreme sports.

<<< Mat Nordberg: This is Nordberg’s second show and he is taking time away from his job at RPM Metal Recycling in Sequim to participate.

<<< Dusty Russell: Russell set the World Record in the 1970s in long-distance car jumping on both land and water.
He has been a regular in emergency rooms and has embraced a variety of injuries: broken bones, concussions and internal injuries, from wrecking more than 3,000 cars throughout the years.
Russell now uses his years of experience to guide a new team of Daredevils.

<<< Jayme Claire: Claire, who recently released a CD, is a Sequim High School student and will represent Sequim High School’s Select Choir.
She will sing the National Anthem.

<<< Naomie Foley: “Peaches the Clown” will hand out $1,500 of sponsor give-a-ways during the event.

For more information about the thrill show, phone Bob Hanna at 360-683-7368 or e-mail to Bob_BoBek@msn.com.
