SEQUIM — Laura Dubois, mayor pro tem for the city of Sequim, recently received a Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities.
Dubois attended AWC-sponsored workshops and completed more than 30 hours of training credits to earn the distinction.
The program is designed to enhance the abilities of elected municipal officials by providing knowledge and skills to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, and foster community and staff relationships.
As a member of the Sequim City Council, Dubois also served as mayor from 2008-2010 and currently is a representative to the Clallam Transit System board of directors, Peninsula Development District/Resource Conservation & Development Council and county Solid Waste Advisory Committee, and is vice chair of the city Transportation Benefit District.
The AWC is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation that represents Washington’s cities and towns before the state Legislature and executive branch, and regulatory agencies.
